Nice start to the spring season

Nice start to the spring season

CEO Foreword

Dear <<First Name>>,

The spring season begins in a few weeks’ time and Oldenburger|Fritom gets off to a good start of this season with a new customer: Total Hair Service. This company from the Dutch city of Groningen is one of the largest suppliers of hair care products in the Netherlands. They entrust us with their online shop. You can read all about it in this newsletter.

Recently we also welcomed Sector Alarm as a new customer. This company specializes in innovative alarm products and we will provide them with tailor-made high-tech logistics solutions. You can read how we will be carrying out the logistic activities for them in Europe.

This time our recurring feature “The world around us” is about the international BREEAM Awards 2020. Oldenburger|Fritom was also nominated for these prizes but unfortunately, we were not one of the winners. Nevertheless, we look back with pride on our nomination for these prestigious sustainability awards.

Finally, you can read about the internal Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt training that is given at Oldenburger|Fritom. Our Master Black Belt focuses on these training sessions and uses the DMAIC model as a core tool. Once this is completed, he will also provide this training within the Fritom Logistic Solutions Group.

I wish you much reading pleasure.

Sincerely,
René Dale

Offering added value to B2B E-Commerce
Total Hair Service has been supplying various hair and beauty products for almost 30 years. The company is one of the largest suppliers of hair care products in the Netherlands and wants to be a Customer Experience Partner that offers added value. They do this through their B2B online shop that has recently been entrusted to Oldenburger|Fritom.

From Farouk Systems to Balmain Hair Couture
The product range of Total Hair Service consists of more than 7,000 different products. As to branding, the company’s product portfolio includes among others Affinage, Alter Ego, Farouk Systems and Balmain Hair Couture. Total Hair Service has decided to develop a partnership with Oldenburger|Fritom to further professionalize the supply system for their customers.

From this month onwards therefore, we will take care of the Total Hair Service B2B online shop. As a fulfillment-partner we will take responsibility for the ordering process and inventory management. In order to steer everything in the right direction, clear performance agreements have been made in advance. These are continuously monitored by us.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Monitoring takes place through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Examples of the performance indicators for Total Hair Service are:

  • Inbound performance (in stock within 4 hours)
  • Stock accuracy
  • Delivery performance (≥ 98.5 percent)

In addition, cycle counting will take place on a regular base and both parties shall hold consultations on a quarterly basis to discuss the status. The purpose of these quarterly meetings is furthermore to optimize both the processes and the collaboration.

Adding digital value
Oldenburger|Fritom will add digital value to the supply chain of Total Hair Service by means of our advanced business analysis tools. Beside the auto-emails to end customers, these tools also consist of automatically generated information on stocks. Also, our business analysis tools provide insight into the purchase behavior of the end customer. Recommendations for ordering and the optimal moment for ordering are part of this.

Tailor-made high-tech logistics solutions
Sector Alarm is a company with Norwegian origins and is headquartered in Oslo. The company supplies state-of-the-art solutions in the field of security. Their innovative alarm products are installed in more than 500,000 homes and business across Europe. This makes Sector Alarm the second largest European company in alarm systems. Oldenburger|Fritom may call itself one of their strategic partners as of this month.

Central management from Veendam
The contact between Sector Alarm and Oldenburger|Fritom goes back to 2018. Then we already carried out various logistics activities for Sector Alarm on behalf of one of our other customers. The dedicated stock of Sector Alarm is now stored in our distribution center in Veendam, as part of our strategic partnership.

In addition, consolidation and central management towards the European market takes place at our distribution center in Veendam. For Oldenburger|Fritom this is another nice addition to the high-tech logistics solutions that we offer. Thanks to previous experiences of partnerships with high-tech companies we developed to become a logistics specialist in this area.

Value Added Logistics
The high-tech sector has great potential and offers us as a global service provider plenty of opportunities to add value throughout the chain. In addition to the usual warehousing and transport activities, this also applies to Value Added Logistics. Under this heading we offer Sector Alarm, among other things:

  • Quality checks
  • Repackaging of products
  • Labeling
  • Cycle counts
  • Returns management

International BREEAM Awards 2020

The BREEAM Awards 2020 ceremony took place on 2 March in London. These prestigious prizes are awarded to buildings that have achieved the highest levels of certification according to BREEAM. In practice, this means that these buildings are characterized by a very high sustainability performance.

BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method. The method was launched in 1990 by the British BRE (Building Research Establishment). It has since become the most widely used quality mark for sustainable buildings worldwide.

Oldenburger|Fritom was also nominated for the BREEAM Awards this year. Unfortunately, despite our BREEAM-NL score of 97.3%, we did not win an award. Yet we can proudly say that we were nominated. Our BREEAM Outstanding distribution center is both energy neutral and hydrologically neutral. In short, a model of sustainability with which we look to the future with confidence.

Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt training
In order to pursue operational excellence, Oldenburger|Fritom is constantly investing in training and education. Seven of our employees recently started the Lean Six Sigma Orange Belt training. This training is given by the Master Black Belt (MBB) of Oldenburger|Fritom, Frans Andeweg.

Combination of theory and practice
MBB is the highest attainable level of the Lean Six Sigma certification. The Master Black Belt is experienced in change management, linking the business strategy to improvement projects. Frans supports our organization in this and he himself provides the training and education. During the Orange belt training, our employees receive a theoretical introduction to Lean Six Sigma.

Resources are also provided to put theory into practice. That is why the knowledge gained is simultaneously applied by the employees in a project. Once the training has been successfully completed, Orange Belts can lead small improvement projects themselves or contribute to our extensive Lean improvement projects.

Training structure according to the DMAIC model
Frans has set up the Orange Belt training at Oldenburger|Fritom according to the DMAIC model: Define – Measure – Analyze – Improve – Control. He deals with various topics in seven meetings:
  • Working with a project charter
  • Application of improvement methods such as SIPOC and Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
  • Different data types and data collection
  • Managing resistance to change
During this year, Frans will also provide the Orange Belt training to other colleagues within the Fritom Logistic Solutions Group.
