The Rietplas Run, ‘Rietplasloop’ in Dutch, is a running event in Emmen. Everyone is welcome to participate. Young, old, experienced and inexperienced runners take part in this yearly event with a very nice course. Oldenburger|Fritom has been a partner of the Rietplas Run since 2008, showing our commitment to the local community.
The course of the running event is situated around the Rietplas. This recreational lake was developed end twentieth century and has its own beach. It is located in the southern part of Emmen in the suburbs called the Rietlanden through which part of the course runs. The lake provides a beautiful trail for the Rietplas Run and is the setting for many other events.
You can participate in three distances: 5, 10 and 15 kilometers. At the start and finish runners cross a special mat that registers the chips in the clothing of the contestants. The runner with the fastest gross time is the winner of the distance in question.
There is a 1-kilometer run especially for runners with an intellectual disability. When needed they are accompanied.
Children as young as 4 years old can participate in the Rietplas Run. There is a 500-meter run especially for these children. They can be accompanied by an adult. For contestants between 6 and 12 years old there is the 1K Runaway. Like the name says this run is precisely 1 kilometer . Each age category has its own start time.
This running event has had a highly successful business run for years. Each year Oldenburger|Fritom takes part with a team. This business team consists of 3-4 persons. Team members also compete in the individual ranking.
