"First I investigate what the fastest and most cost-effective option is."
With a strong partner network, Oldenburger|Fritom handles all air and sea freight shipments. We hold the AEO-C and AEO-S permits, we are an IATA member, a Regulated Agent, and have our own office at Schiphol Airport. Our colleague Arjan Brouwer focuses on all customer requests for air and sea freight.
This means Arjan handles the entire import and export process and maintains daily contact with our partners, including agents, air freight companies, and shipping lines. Arjan: "As soon as a customer requests an air or sea freight shipment, I first investigate the fastest and most cost-effective option. Once the customer has made a choice, my colleagues and I handle all the associated tasks."
Additional training
This includes export declarations, declaring air freight safe, customs clearance, gas measurements of sea containers, and many other matters. Arjan has followed additional training for this:
The best solution
Like all Oldenburger|Fritom employees, Arjan has also been trained in the Lean Six Sigma method. In May 2025, he obtained his Black Belt certificate. Arjan: "During the training, I learned how to use the DMAIC model to achieve process improvements and develop multiple solutions." Arjan also applies the method when he receives complex air and sea freight requests.
"The challenge for me is to investigate this in detail so I can offer our customers the best solution in this area as well. It also ensures that I continually learn new things. By sharing this with the customer, they receive further confirmation that their air and sea freight shipments are in good hands with us."
