Sustainable renovation of Oldenburger|Fritom's headquarters

After upgrading our existing warehouse to BREEAM In-Use Outstanding, we also had our existing office building in Veendam renovated to the highest sustainability standards. As with all our buildings, a strong focus was on ergonomics. In other words, an optimal working environment for our colleagues.

We presented this requirement to various parties, after which the international company vandaglas came up with the best proposal: glass office walls. We came into contact with vandaglas at the Dutch football club FC Emmen, of which vandaglas is the main sponsor and Oldenburger|Fritom has been a business partner for many years. The company Glas-IDee from the Dutch city of Emmen managed the project.

Biophilic design
Incorporating natural elements like glass is a key component of our BREEAM Outstanding certified buildings. There's a separate BREEAM credit called "biophilic design”.

Glass emphasizes humanity's relationship with nature and has a positive effect on the well-being of our colleagues. Glass is a natural material and offers natural light, optimal transparency, and optimal insulation values.

Completion
On August 19th, our renovated office building was completed. We invited Gert Middel of vandaglas and Gert Auwema and Geert Jagt of Glas-IDee for this occasion.

In the presence of our colleagues Albert Medendorp and Mats Dale, who coordinated and supervised the renovation project on behalf of Oldenburger|Fritom, our renovated office building was officially opened.
