"By applying Lean Six Sigma, we can operate as efficiently as possible as an organization."
To retain knowledge and expertise in the north of the Netherlands, Oldenburger|Fritom cooperates with the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, among others. Students can do internships with us, which often leads to an employment contract. For example, Mats Dale joined us as a Supply Chain Engineer in 2024 after completing his internship.
Mats: "The Logistics Management program is a good fit for my role. For example, I learned various techniques that I now use to design and implement improvement projects in our warehouses."
Mats's daily work is primarily sales-related. "Besides answering customer questions, I'm responsible for preparing quotes and attending networking events." Mats finds the variety of his role the most enjoyable.
"No two days are the same. One day I'm in the workplace, the next I'm at my desk answering customer questions. It's precisely this dynamic that makes my work so interesting and challenging."
Optimization and innovation
The Lean Six Sigma methodology is also a component of NHL Stenden's Logistics Management programs, connecting theory and practice. "During my studies, I completed my initial training in this area, for which I obtained the theoretical certificate. I successfully completed the practical component at Oldenburger|Fritom."
In May 2025, Mats obtained his Black Belt certificate. "By applying Lean Six Sigma, we can operate as efficiently as possible as an organization. We continuously strive for optimization and innovation. This ensures we stay abreast of current developments in the logistics sector and are often trendsetters."
