"Finding the best match between assignments and our partners."
With a strong partner network, Oldenburger|Fritom operates worldwide as a supply chain manager for road transportation, air freight, sea freight, and trimodal transport. The business unit Freight Forwarding is responsible for the streamlined flow of these transport processes. Our colleague Shanna van Gigch fulfills the role of Forwarder here.
After she joined us as an Assistant Forwarder in 2022, Shanna has continuously developed herself and mastered the various facets of Freight Forwarding. Shanna: "After the promotion from Assistant Forwarder to Forwarder in early 2025, I have been given more responsibilities. This gives me the freedom to make my own decisions on certain matters, which I previously discussed with my manager and colleague."
In her daily work, Shanna derives great satisfaction from contact with our partners, including charters. “We work every day to find the best match between assignments and our partners. The goal is always to transport our customers' cargo safely and responsibly." Sometimes things don't go as expected. "It is then up to us to fix it. This creates a lot of variety in the work, because no two days are the same."
Training in Economics and Logistics
In 2023, Shanna obtained her Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt-certificate. In addition, in September 2024, she started the training in Economics and Logistics at the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, with which Oldenburger|Fritom cooperates closely.
"Both the Lean Six Sigma training and the training in Economics and Logistics have taught me to look at certain situations differently. Every situation requires its own approach. I can apply the knowledge I gained in the trainings in my daily work."
