Continuous improvement in air cargo safety

In addition to the IATA membership and AEO permits, Oldenburger|Fritom also has the status of Regulated Air Cargo Agent. This is a recognition of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, which supervises the safety of air cargo.

As a known consignor, we comply with strict procedures and guidelines to guarantee air cargo safety. In addition, we also focus on continuous improvement according to the Lean Six Sigma method. For example, we recently implemented a preventive measure for the safe declaration of pallets of bagged goods by air freight.

Many products in bags have too high a density. As a result, it is not possible to check for prohibited objects and substances via an X-Ray scan. Certified detection dogs are used instead, but they too can hardly make an observation because these pallets are sealed too tightly.

We have therefore conducted a test with ventilating foil in collaboration with PMT Aviation. Successfully. The reaction (time) of dogs is considerably shortened with this new type of foil.
