This afternoon, our CEO, René Dale, spoke with Sophie Hermans, outgoing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Climate and Green Growth, at the Veendam Town Hall. The topic of discussion was the BREEAM Outstanding certification of our logistics facilities in Veendam.
Ms. Hermans (on the left of the picture) was in Veendam to discuss the first hydrogen storage permit granted in the Netherlands. This permit concerns hydrogen storage in the salt caverns near Veendam, where, until now, only natural gas has been stored.
The visit also provided an excellent opportunity to highlight sustainable entrepreneurship in the municipality. At the invitation of Mayor Annelies Pleyte (in the middle of the picture) and Alderman Henk Jan Schmaal, our CEO (on the right of the picture) shared information about our BREEAM Outstanding certified facilities in Veendam.
After Oldenburger|Fritom became the first logistics service provider in the Northern Netherlands to have a distribution center built according to the highest BREEAM level in 2018, we opened a second BREEAM Outstanding DC this year. We also upgraded our existing warehouse and office building to BREEAM In-Use Outstanding.
