"I was given trust and responsibilities to turn the warehouse desires and requirements of one of our customers into a solution"
Nico de Valk started working for us in 1993 via an apprenticeship program. Nico went to school one day a week and worked for the Oldenburger Brothers – Gebroeders Oldenburger – 4 days a week. When he successfully completed his 3-year training, he became one of our drivers. When less drivers where needed in 2003, Nico continued his career at Oldenburger|Fritom as warehouse employee. Nowadays Nico is shift leader and one of our employees responsible for the daily flow in our warehouse.
Nico: “The change from driving to working in the warehouse wasn’t that hard. What helped smoothen the process was partly because I was asked, just after the transfer, to turn the warehouse desires and requirements of one of our customers into a solution. When given the task, I was given trust and my own responsibilities. Our continuous improvement method helps me with this. How? Well for example, in the very beginning we were walking around the warehouse with stacks of paper - nowadays we have hand scanners. Customer satisfaction is central to Oldenburger|Fritom, that’s why we continuously improve and innovate our services.”
