Personal leadership training: "What Makes a Team Successful"

Last night, our first personal leadership training of 2026 took place at Oldenburger|Fritom's logistics training center in the Dutch city of Veendam. This time, the theme was "What Makes a Team Successful," focusing on drawing parallels with football as a team sport.

PL, personal leadership, helps people become aware of their own thought patterns through insights into how the brain works. This, along with developing coaching skills, forms the foundation of our growth mindset culture.

To make this tangible, several of our colleagues serve as culture carriers. They organize our personal leadership training sessions, among other things, and are guided by Gonnie van Alphen from the Mindset Company.

Workshop
This time, the theme was "What Makes a Team Successful," focusing on drawing parallels with football as a team sport. To introduce the theme, our CEO, René Dale, kicked off the training session with our team rules. 

We then split into small groups for a workshop. Each group drew a parallel between the different roles within a football team and our daily work.

Midfielders, for example, form the line between the defenders and strikers. The department our colleagues work in also often serves as a link between other departments. The discussion in this group focused on how this cooperation is currently working and whether there are any improvements possible.

Guest Speaker
Finally, Nico Haak, Technical Director of the Dutch football club FC Emmen, was the guest speaker this time. He provided insights into how the team members cooperate to achieve success.
